Pam was born in Greenwich, South East London. She has a background in teaching and has always been creative. She completed her teacher training and studied Art and Design at Stockwell College. After college she taught for several years during which time she married and raised a family before going on to pursue her interest in the arts.
Pam then joined The Bexley and District Crafts Guild and has worked for The Chamber of Commerce and Local Authorities in the planning and running of workshops for children and adults. These workshops were a huge success and developed into a travelling road show for children in the inner city areas of London as well as events run by The Arts and Cultural Services and International Women's Weeks.
Having worked with quite a variety of different materials throughout the years it was Pam's original handmade greetings cards that really took off. This progressed into the design and manufacture of cards for Harvey Nichols and many other independent stores around central London. She was given a contract to supply Charlton Athletic Football Club with her original and exclusive handmade cards and with private commissions sales going worldwide, it was a busy and challenging time but a lot of fun.
Leaving a hectic work and London life behind Pam now lives in the beautifully diverse area known as The Somerset Levels. It was during a course in stained glass and a workshop in mosaics that a new phase had began. The sheer beauty of the glass and it's wonderful colours became inspirational to her. Her passion is mosaics and she uses mainly glass along with textiles, paper, paint and the other more traditional materials found in mosaics. Pam exhibits locally and works on private commissions, making for homes, gardens, businesses and public areas. She is also a member of the British Association of Modern Mosaic (BAMM), Somerset Art Works (SAW) and the Artists Directory.co.uk.
"I love the creative world of mosaics and the magic it brings to life, the possibilites are endless and the whole process is such fun. However I warn you it becomes addictive and you begin to envisage everything from a different perspective which is . . . . that would look good in mosaic form!" Quote Pam Wells.
